Police investigation

Polda Sulsel confirmed that the case is now in the investigation phase and is being handled by the Directorate of Reserse PPA and PPO. “We have received more than one report regarding the alleged sexual violence,” said Kasubdit I of the directorate, AKBP Beyamin Buntu, Thursday, 29/10/2026.

He added that the investigation is still in progress, noting that the handling unit is Unit II. No arrests have been made yet, and the police have not determined any suspects.

Status of the probe

The case has undergone a formal evidence review and officially entered the penyidikan (investigation) stage. Beyamin said, “The case is clearly ongoing and already in the investigation stage. However, forced detention of the alleged perpetrator has not yet been carried out,” Thursday, 29/10/2026.

He emphasized that the police are still awaiting further developments before announcing any suspect designations.

Victim support

The victim is receiving special accompaniment in line with the standard operating procedure. Beyamin explained, “For victims in this situation, they are definitely accompanied by women’s and children’s protectors,” Thursday, 29/10/2026.

He dismissed reports of any attempted reconciliation between the victim’s family and the alleged perpetrators, stating that sexual violence against children does not fall under restorative justice mechanisms. “In cases involving children, there is no room for reconciliation; this is not a restorative justice case,” he said.

Family concerns

The victim’s family said seven men are suspected of involvement in the abuse. They reported the case to Polda Sulsel in early September 2026 and have expressed worry that the alleged perpetrators remain at large.

Family members also mentioned that a village official attempted to mediate with the alleged perpetrators, but they rejected any such reconciliation and insisted that the matter be handled through the formal legal process.

They are demanding that the victim receive proper medical care, psychological support, and protection appropriate to her condition and age.

Police continue to investigate the seven alleged perpetrators and have not yet secured any detentions. The case remains under active investigation, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
