Sulseltimes.com, Makassar, Kamis, 08/10/2026 — Prof. Hasmyati officially registered as candidate for Rector of Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM), presenting a vision focused on research and global competitiveness.

She arrived at UNM campus in Makassar, accompanied by family, relatives, colleagues, and academic representatives from various faculties.
“In 2026, I was accompanied by about 200 people from ground floor to floor 12. Specifically, 9 people entered registration room with me. The presence of my beloved husband indicates full family support. I am also accompanied by team leader, Prof. Dr. Ramly, M.Hum from Faculty of Languages, and deans and professors from various faculties. This support becomes a great energy for me to move forward and strive to make UNM number one,” Prof. Hasmyati said.
Pendaftaran dan Sambutan Panitia
The registration was received by Pilrek UNM committee chairman Prof Muhammad Idkhan and members.
Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences, the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, senate members, and lecturers representing faculties.
Visi dan Komitmen
Prof. Hasmyati emphasized that her candidacy does not involve comparisons with other candidates. “I do not want to recall the past. I step forward starting today. I am ready to work for UNM to be better than now,” she added.
She outlined her vision: “My vision‑mission is to make UNM a center of excellence in research‑based, innovative, beneficial, and globally competitive education.”
She also addressed student brawls, stating that collaborative dialogue can prevent them. “Brawls will not exist if we sit together, discuss together, and find the best solution for all of us,” she said.
Prof. Hasmyati’s background includes serving two terms as Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences. She previously contested the 2012 and 2024 UNM rector elections, securing 40 senate votes in 2024.
In the 2026 election, she will compete against five other academics.
