Consul General’s Recognition
Consul General Andi Ardiansyah said Pagar Nusa’s consistent activities among Indonesian migrant workers strengthen Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy in Hong Kong. “KJRI Hong Kong gives its highest appreciation for Pagar Nusa’s consistency and active role as a partner of the Indonesian mission,” he said. “The consulate will support PB IPSI and Pagar Nusa in initiating a Hong Kong Pencak Silat Federation and advancing the Pencak Silat Road to Olympics vision.”
“Pagar Nusa’s steady support in prestigious events, especially the Hong Kong Flower Show for three consecutive years, has enhanced Indonesia’s positive image among international audiences and local authorities,” he added.
Pagar Nusa’s Vision for Local Growth
Muchamad Nabil Haroen (Gus Nabil), chairman of Pagar Nusa and vice‑chairman of PB IPSI, emphasized that pencak silat development abroad must involve local communities. “Our next strategic step is to transform this cultural appreciation into institutional sport by forming a Hong Kong Pencak Silat Federation and training local residents,” he said. “This is an integrated part of PB IPSI’s global roadmap toward the Pencak Silat Road to Olympics.”
Gus Nabil explained that a local federation and more regional athletes are key foundations for expanding the international pencak silat ecosystem. “We want not only Indonesians to practice pencak silat overseas; we want many local people to learn, become coaches, become athletes, and help build pencak silat organizations in their own countries,” he said.
During the meeting, Gus Nabil reported that Pagar Nusa Hong Kong now oversees two branch branches (PAC). Training is held regularly on weekends, with Victoria Park as a main venue, plus two other training sites across Hong Kong.
He noted that pencak silat provides Indonesian migrant workers a positive way to spend holidays while strengthening discipline, brotherhood, and character. “Pagar Nusa and IPSI’s presence in Hong Kong is not only a character‑building platform for migrant workers during their free time, but also an active soft‑power diplomacy instrument for Indonesia on the world stage,” he said.
The leader urged all Pagar Nusa cadres to follow local regulations and uphold Indonesia’s reputation in Hong Kong. “Our consistency in prestigious events like the Hong Kong Flower Show proves that Nusantara’s national and cultural values can adapt and be warmly received by the global community,” he added.
Police continue to pursue the remaining 11 vehicles and are investigating possible involvement of other parties in the case.
